Tenure Track Faculty Position in Aerosol Science at the Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Sciences

The Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science (https://www.earth.miami.edu) at the University of Miami invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level relevant to Aerosol Science in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences (ATM). The ATM department seeks to advance the research frontier on aerosol-weather and aerosol-climate interactions.  Research foci can include aerosol remote sensing, aerosol process modeling including interactions with clouds and their integration with large datasets. The successful candidate will complement core departmental strengths in climate change and prediction, tropical meteorology and hurricanes, cloud and aerosol processes and atmospheric chemistry. The vibrant department is highly collaborative with other Rosenstiel School strengths in environmental policy, ocean sciences, marine geosciences and biology, and University of Miami strengths in Engineering. The successful candidate will contribute to a joint Center for Aerosol Science and Technology (CAST) between the Rosenstiel School and the College of Engineering, a productive team of four faculty in Engineering and two in ATM. A secondary appointment in the College of Engineering can become available through CAST. The Rosenstiel School hosts the Helicopter Observation Platform (HOP), the Surge-Structure-Atmosphere Interaction (SUSTAIN) wind-wave tank, the Barbados Atmospheric Chemistry Observatory (BACO) and the Aircraft Center for Earth Studies (ACES) focused on science-driven sensing of the ocean. The Rosenstiel School is located next to beautiful Biscayne Bay on Virginia Key, four miles offshore of downtown Miami. The University and Department encourages qualified candidates who will contribute, through their research, teaching, and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

The application can be submitted via this link (R100060892). Applications should include: 1) cover letter, 2) CV, 3) teaching statement (no more than 2 pages), 4) research statement (no more than 5 pages), 5) the names and contact information for 3 references, 6) a statement regarding the applicant’s commitment to diversity (no more than 2 pages).

Please note that the review of applications will begin immediately, but applications will be received until the position is filled with a current priority date of September 30, 2023. Questions can be directed to the Chair of the Search Committee, Dr. Amy Clement aclement@miami.edu
